It proved to a cracker of a weekend in the Playr-Fit Championship with the six games across the weekend producing a festive feast of goals on both Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

Three very much proved to be the magic number on Saturday as Ballinamallard United, Ballyclare Comrades and Bangor all swept to decisive 3-0 home victories while, less than 24 hours prior to that, Dundela and Institute grabbed dramatic wins and there was a sharing of the spoils at the Blanchflower Stadium.

Leaders Dundela set the tone for the weekend after coming from two goals down to defeat Annagh United at Wilgar Park on Friday.

The visitors raced into an early lead with goals from Paul Finnegan and Jack Evans inside the opening 20 minutes but the Duns hit back through Jack Evans and then a Jordan Jenkins hat-trick before the break.

Ciaran Dobbin and William Faulkner then went onto to complete the scoring in the second half.

Kirk McLaughlin grabbed the late winner as Institute defeated Ards at the Brandywell.

McLaughlin opened the scoring after a quarter-of-an-hour when he knocked home the rebound from his initial effort.

That was how it stayed until seven minutes into the second half when Callum Dougan levelled for Ards from the spot, before firing the visitors in front just before the hour.

Tiarnan McKinney equalised for 'Stute three minutes after that, but just as it looked that was how it would end up McLaughlin bagged his second of the night six minutes into added time to secure the points for 'Stute!

HW Welders and Newington battled to an equal share of the goals at the Blanchflower Stadium.

Scoreless at the break, Ewan McCoubrey edged the Welders in front on 49 minutes with a low driven effort past keeper Dean Smyth.

The Swans levelled just three minutes later, however, when Paul Donnelly was presented with a free header at the back post.

That was how it stayed until the 79th minute when Tiarnan O'Connor blasted home from outside the box into the top corner.

But, as with the opening goal, Newington levelled moments later with Donnelly's second of the game as the game finished all square.

Moving onto Saturday, Ballinamallard United hit three goals without reply past Portadown at Ferney Park.

John Edgar broke the deadlock late in the first half when the ball fell for him following some defensive indecision.

Darragh Byrne added a second six minutes after the interval after some more poor defending, with Josh McIlwaine completing the scoring with a header late in the game.

It was a similar outcome at Dixon Park as Ballyclare Comrades inflicted another defeat on bottom of the table Knockbreda.

Alan McMurtry bagged the opener on 42 minutes with a finish into the bottom left, before Darius Roohi doubled up in first half stoppage time into the opposite corner. Ronan McAleer then wrapped the scoring up just after the hour.

Meanwhile, at Clandeboye Park, three second half goals helped Bangor to victory over Dergview.

Ben Arthurs knocked home the first on 47 minutes with a curling top corner strike, Lewis Francis hit the second at the back post around the hour mark with Michael Halliday completing the scoring not long after that.
