Loughgall’s lead at the top of the Lough 41 Championship increased to seven points on a day that also produced victories Warrenpoint Town, Ards, Ballyclare Comrades, HW Welders and Institute.

The Villagers needed just one goal to defeat Newington at Lakeview Park, the winner coming early in the second half thanks to a superb 25-yard Tiernan Kelly strike.

Warrenpoint Town moved into second spot following a dramatic victory over Ballinamallard United at Milltown.

The Mallards moved in front through a Richard Clarke spot-kick on 38 minutes, a lead they held until the 86th minute when James Carroll bagged the equaliser. Then, deep into stoppage time, Adam Carroll popped up to snatch ‘Point’s last gasp winner.

Annagh United have lost ground in recent weeks, and dropped some more points with a two-goal reversal away to Institute.

Jamie McCormick opened the scoring for ‘Stute with just over a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock with a back post header while Calvin McCallion grabbed the other midway through the first half.

HW Welders’ recent rich run of form continued with a 7-1 thumping of Knockbreda at the Blanchflower Stadium.

Matthew Ferguson needed just three minutes to open the scoring, with Jonny Frazer adding a second 15 minutes after that. Michael McLellan then knocked home another two before the half-hour mark.

Barry Moore pulled one back for ‘Breda after the break, but goals later in the game from Liam Toman, Mohamed Ayari and Lewis Patterson saw the Welders run out comfortable winners.

Ballyclare Comrades clocked up a third win on the bounce with a 1-0 defeat of Dundela at Dixon Park. Conall McGrandles knocked home the winner early in the second half after heading home a Gary Donnelly free-kick from the left.

Meanwhile, Ards travelled to Castlederg to defeat Dergview by the odd goal in five.

Ethan Taggart edged Ards in front midway through the first half only for Garth Falconer to level within a couple of minutes.

Adam Salley then converted from the spot just after the half-hour mark to restore Ards’ advantage, with TJ Murray then adding another on 52 minutes. Jamie Browne did reduce the deficit after that but it wasn’t enough to deny Ards a much needed win.
