Newington moved to the top of the Playr-Fit Championship on an afternoon that also saw HW Welders, Ballyclare Comrades, Dundela and Ards all claim three points apiece.

The Swans swept to a three-goal victory over morning leaders Annagh United at the BMG Arena.

Jack Reilly opened the scoring after half-an-hour with a clinical finish, with Seamus Duffy doubling up moments from the break.

Newington were reduced to ten men moments after the break but that didn’t stop them extending their lead midway through the second half courtesy of Paul Donnelly’s finish.

Jordan Jenkins bagged the only goal of the game as Dundela moved into second spot with a win away to Dergview. The former Glenavon and Glentoran man struck after just three minutes into the bottom corner from 18 yards.

And HW Welders also needed just one goal to get the better of Portadown at the Blanchflower Stadium. Scoreless for most of the game, Michael McLellan hit the winner from the spot on 77 minutes for Paul Kee’s side.

Ards withstood a Knockbreda fight back to claim their first win of the season at Breda Park.

Matthew Tipton’s raced into a three-goal lead through Aidan Steele, Eamon Scannell and Ross Hunter before bottom of the table ‘Breda responded with second half goals by Lee McGreevy and Guillaume Keke.

Bangor grabbed a very late leveller to share the spoils with Institute at Clandeboye Park.

Kirk McLaughlin had fired ‘Stute in front around the hour mark but just as it looked like the points would be heading back to the North West up popped Lewis Francis to head the equaliser past keeper Bryankizito Uzoukwu seven minutes into added time!

Meanwhile, at Dixon Park, Ballyclare Comrades defeated Ballinamallard United.

Michael Morgan edged the Comrades in front as early as the sixth minute, a lead they held until just after the hour when Calvin McCurry added a second on the rebound.

Alex Holder did pull one back for the Mallards soon after but there was no way back for Harry McConkey’s side.
