LATE DRAMA BUT HONOURS EVEN AT MILLTOWN

The bottom two locked horns at Milltown but, in the end, Warrenpoint Town and Institute had to settle for a point apiece.

'Point created the first effort of the evening with barely a minute on the clock when Alan O'Sullivan forced a save from Rory Brown with a long range shot.

A little after that Brandon Doyle just failed to get a touch to Ryan Swan's left-sided cross before, on 19 minutes, Barry Gray's side did break the deadlock when Doyle sent the ball over for O'Sullivan to smash into the net.

It was almost 2-0 just before the half-hour mark after Swan found Kealan Dillon but his shot smashed back off the crossbar.

'Stute hit back, almost finding the equaliser through Dean Curry's header from a corner while the loose ball caused a goalmouth scramble before the danger was cleared.

The visitors did level a couple of minutes before the break via Ahu Obhakhan after he was in the right place to slot home after Evan Tweed's cross wasn't cleared.

Buoyed by this, Institute looked the better side in the second half with home keeper Gareth Buchanan being forced to palm away a Tweed header from point blank range.

Buchanan denied Tweed again on the hour but 'Point began to come back into the game more as the play progressed with Daniel Wallace having a header cleared off the line and Dermot McVeigh's follow up falling the wrong side of the post.

Wallace did have the ball in the net after that but his 'goal' was ruled out offside and a couple of minutes after that 'Stute keeper Brown did well to turn away Dillon's rasping 25-yard drive.

Warrenpoint eventually moved back in front with six minutes left after Wallace touched the ball home when he combined with Swan for the latter to find him with a ball in from the right.

But, in the closing moments, Institute earned themselves a point after Conor Tourish headed into the box with home substitute Gavin Smith until to stop the ball coming off him and into his own net.
