Goals midway through the second half from Daire O'Connor and Daniel Purkis ensured Glenavon and Cliftonville shared the points in front of the Sky Sports cameras at Mourneview Park.
Despite being scoreless at the break both sides had opportunities with Purkis failing to trouble Reds keeper Richard Brush early on while, at the other end, Michael McCrudden saw Johnny Tuffey save his low drive.
Moving into the second half, Glenavon substitute Conor McCloskey came closest just before the hour with a 25-yard drive which cannoned back off the crossbar.
But the deadlock was broken on 67 minutes when O'Connor ran onto a long ball to finish well past Tuffey.
However, it proved to be a short lived advantage for the advantage when, five minutes later, Purkis swept a right-foot drive into the far corner beyond Brush's reach.
Glenavon came closest to securing the win later in the game when Conan Byrne did well to force a stop from Brush with a header.
