GLENS MOVE BACK INTO SECOND SPOT

Glentoran moved into second - leapfrogging Sion Swifts on goal difference - following a 4-1 victory over Cliftonville at Solitude.

First half goals from Rachel Rogan and Nadene Caldwell put the East Belfast side in control but Rachel McConnell grabbed one back for the Reds after the break.

However, a double from Kerry Beattie ensured the League Cup finalists remain within five points of leaders Linfield.

Leah McEvoy and Marissa Callaghan went close for the Reds early on but it was the Glens who took control when Rogan fired home from close-range and Caldwell doubled the lead on the half-hour mark by rounding Reds goalkeeper Lauren Currie.

McConnell grabbed one back for the hosts after the break but Glentoran substitute Rogan did all the damage thereafter, netting twice inside the space of eight minutes to finish the game off.

Reds player Megan Weatherall was then dismissed for apparent dissent while the same appeared to be true for Glens coach Gail Redmond on the touchline.

Demi Vance had the chance to add a fifth for the Glens late on from the penalty spot but her effort was saved by substitute goalkeeper Joana Da Silva.
