Northern Ireland international and Danske Bank Women’s Premiership star Demi Vance has left Glentoran to join Scottish giants Rangers.
Vance was voted NIFL Women's Player of the Year after helping the East Belfast outfit to a treble of local cup competitions last season - the Danske Bank League Cup, Irish Cup and County Antrim Cup.
The 28-year-old is primarily a midfielder who offers a goal threat but her versatility has seen her deployed in a number of positions at international level - where she has won 60 caps - including full-back.
She has now joined the Glasgow side on an 18-month contract and will be hoping to help the side better their fourth-placed finish from last season’s Scottish top flight.
“First and foremost we want to win the league, I think that is what we are all striving for which is good because I think everyone has the same goal and we want to get to Champions League football,” Vance explained to Rangers TV.
“I think it will be a bit surreal, playing with my friends in the street when I was younger I always used to wear Rangers kit, so to be playing professionally at the club is a dream.
“This year I really enjoyed my football and I was able to relax and I found even more love for the game and hopefully I can continue that on.”
Women’s and Girls’ Football Manager at Ibrox, Amy McDonald said: “We are thrilled to welcome Demi to the club.
“She is an excellent addition to this new look squad we are building and sets a brilliant precedent of the standard of player we are going to be bringing to the club in the coming months.
“As a Rangers fan all her life she will bring true passion to the squad and a real understanding of what it means to play for the club.”
